Man injured after being struck by vehicle

A Mountain Home man remains hospitalized after being struck by a truck at the intersection of South Haskett Street and Airbase Road around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

According to initial information released by the Idaho State Police, the individual was waiting at the crosswalk to get across Airbase Road when a semi truck in the right side of the westbound lane slowed to let the individual proceed into the intersection.

However, a Dodge pickup in the left lane continued through the intersection and struck the individual, knocking him unconscious.

The man was taken by ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise where he regained consciousness and was speaking with investigators. The person's name was not immediately released.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

  • It's amazing how many times I see this happen at the same intersection. What is it going to take to get a light or a blinking stop sign... Let's get it together!!! Geez

  • now I know why that section was conned off and about 20 officers were milling around the area at noon. People just need to stop walking or build some overpasses.

  • The problem is not people walking, the problem is drivers not paying attention at the instersection, every time I drive through it I check all 4 points of entry and then proceed with caution. The problem is the city is spending money on trees to hang in the underpass instead of taking care of citizens who deserve every right to feel safe when walking to work.
