Bud was born in Logan County, Okla., on Nov. 5, 1935, to Olen and Priscilla Decker. The family moved to Idaho in 1937, and he started riding horses and working at a very young age.
He attended school in King Hill and enlisted in the Army in 1953. Bud married Orie Lisle on Nov. 23, 1955, and adopted her two little girls, Terrie and Yvonne.
He moved his new family to Fort Lewis in Kennewick, Wash. After 1,085 days in the Army, he was honorably discharged and they moved home to Idaho.
He worked on several farms and ranches, and then he went to work for the county finding his true calling -- Building Roads. Later, he was hired by Western Construction, and a true partnership began. He was promoted to superintendent April 1974.
It was said that Bud built nearly every road in southern Idaho. During the summers, the family traveled with Dad to all his jobs, living in all the small towns of Idaho. In later years, the grandkids traveled with Grandpa and Grandma, experiencing road construction firsthand.
Dad and Mom had lifelong friends all over Idaho. They owned seven Thoroughbreds and raced at Les Bois Park making friends and memories in the racing community. After retirement, Dad and Mom built a cabin in Paradise, spending time with friends and family.
Bud and Orie had a wonderful life, traveling, laughing, enjoying their kids, grandbabies, family and friends. Bud loved his horse, Smokey, his dog, Jessy, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, a few cold beers and a shot of whiskey. He was a proud, honest, hardworking man and will be truly missed.
