Officials receive donation for local extrication team

The newest of the Elmore County Extrication Unit's "Jaws of Life" cutting equipment, shown here, isn't strong enough to cut through the steel used in some of today's newest vehicles. The $1,000 donation by a local public health company will help buy a state-of-the-art version of the extrication tool. Alan Roberts with the county extrication team said the new equipment will use a battery power unit versus the current model that's tethered to a generator and hydraulic lines.

The Elmore County Extrication Unit recently received a $1,000 check from a Grand View-based company after county officials put out a call for donations.
US Ecology was glad to help the extrication unit with the donation because of the company's impact on roads in the county, especially Simco Road, said Terry Geis, a general manager with the company
