Storm drain clearing on Wednesday Jan. 6, 2016
Dustin Jewett from the city street department does the dirty work to vacuum up debris while Tom Dills from the wastewater department gets ready to shovel away additional trash as city crews worked to clear storm drains in the downtown area Jan. 6. After the recent period of wet weather and three days of above-freezing temperatures, the city's storm drains became clogged with trash, leaves and other debris that needed to be removed to avoid flooding along city streets. Most of the water that runs down into city's storm drains moves through pipes under South 3rd East Street, officials said.
