Soccer all-stars meet at state event

Students representing Mountain Home and communities across Idaho met at Legacy Park over the weekend during a statewide youth soccer shoot-out competition.
Hosted by the Mountain Home Elks Lodge, the event included 42 boys and girls, who earned a chance to compete at state level following their participation in local-level events.
During the day, the younger competitors had five chances to put a soccer ball in a goal that ranged in size from 17 to 48 inches across. Meanwhile, the older participants were tested on their ability to kick goals at a distance of 36 feet into a goal that was slightly larger than a regulation goal. The goal is divided into an eight rectangle grid pattern with points awarded for different grid goals.
