Casimiro Dimas Jr.
Casimiro Dimas Jr., beloved husband, father and friend, fondly known as Mr. "Dee," was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Edinburg, Texas, the son of Cosimo Dimas Sr. and Maria Luz Gomez. Dee passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at the age of 83.
Dee proudly served 23 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a Master Sergeant. During his career, he served as a Battalion Commander and represented the United States Army in Special Services as a professional golfer, winning many tournaments.
After military retirement, he began a career with the Idaho Migrant Council where he spent 26 years. Dee also served as a camp coordinator in Hammett, Idaho, and he also served his community as the grounds keeper for the Bruneau Cemetery.
Dee is survived by his wife, Rosa E. Dimas of Idaho; his son, Casimiro Dimas III and spouse Nora of Colorado; his daughters, Mary Jane Dimas of Arizona, Betti Dimas-Olson of Idaho, Maria Dimas-Garcia and spouse Frank of Arizona; his brother, Bruno Dimas and spouse Lucy of Florida; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters, loving granddaughter (Natausha Ramirez) and his beloved dog, Chance.
Dee always enjoyed a good conversation and was a friend to all people and animals.
Inurnment with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. on Aug. 14, 2015, at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery, in Boise, Idaho.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at the American Legion Hall in Bruneau, Idaho. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
