Margaret Garner
Margaret Louise (Peggy) Garner passed away the morning of April 23, 2015, surrounded by her family. She had battled heart and lung issues for many years.
She was the eldest of three girls and was born at home on Oct. 31, 1934, in Boise, Idaho, to Joseph Michael Hugg and Evelyn Hurd Hugg. She met her future husband, John Garner, at a party while she was a sophomore in high school.
They corresponded by regular old fashioned mail while John was stationed in California for the Air Force. They were married in Boise at the First Christian Church, on Jan. 19, 1952.
They went to many military assignments together in Ohio, California and Nevada and were separated only when John went to Pakistan for an 18-month assignment. They were married for 62 years at the time of John's death in October 2014.
Peggy's main goal was to be a wife and mother, which upon the birth of their three children, Catharine, Scott and Joseph was accomplished. Once John retired from the Air Force in 1965, the family moved back to Idaho and resided in Mountain Home.
Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling, traveling in their RVs, doing crafts, cooking, gardening and shopping. Peggy spent many years as part of a bowling league and became quite a good bowler receiving a high score award. Peggy loved the holidays too as it meant decorating and spending time with her family -- of course, her favorite holiday was Halloween as it was also her birthday.
Peggy is survived by daughter Cathy (Rich) Berglund, granddaughter Heather (Ben) Echevarria, great-granddaughter Lacey Walker, great-granddaughter Whitnee Echevarria, granddaughter Lisa (Scott) Bushong, grandson Robby Hering, son Scott (Nikki) Garner, granddaughter Chelsea (Jarrod) Henning, son Joseph (Monica) Garner, grandson Mitch Garner, granddaughter Alexis Garner and her sister Glenda Hill of Boise. She was preceded in death by her husband John Garner, sister Francie Brabec, and both of her parents.
Service to be at First Presbyterian Church, located at 950 West State St. in Boise on Thursday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life Reception will immediately follow the service in Lindsay Hall. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.
Memorials may be made in Peggy's name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Fairfax Road at Virginia Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
