Trailer court temporarily evacuated after possible grenade discovered
The Westside Trailer Court in Mountain Home was temporarily evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a possible grenade was discovered.
According to Officer Melanie Broughton, a spokesperson with the Mountain Home Police Department, a woman at the trailer park was cleaning out her storage unit at another location and brought her property home.
As she started to look through her property, she discovered what appeared to her to be a grenade and called police around 1:45 p.m.
Once police arrived on scene and were able to evaluate the item, they determined that it resembled the appearance of a grenade. As a precautionary measure, several trailers and houses around the area were evacuated until a bomb disposal team from Mountain Home Air Force Base arrived on scene to examine the device.
According to Broughton, the bomb squad determined that the device did not pose an explosive threat. Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 3:45 p.m.
