Gay marriages get green light

The era of same-sex marriage begins in Idaho today and local officials are prepared to comply with the law, as determined by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Marriage licenses for same-sex couples will be available at the Elmore County Courthouse beginning at 10 a.m. today.
A series of last-ditch legal maneuvers by the state of Idaho resulted in the Ninth Circuit not issuing its formal order to proceed with gay marriages in Idaho until this weekend. That order gave the state until today, Wednesday, to get ready and begin issuing marriage licenses.
