Friends for Recovery Council says thanks
Dear editor:
Thank you so much for the nice article in the Mountain Home News. We, as board members of the Elmore County Friends for Recovery Council appreciate the kudos, and we appreciate the efforts of everyone who has participated in any of our fundraising and relationship-building activities over the years.
While it is true that we support the efforts of the Elmore County Drug & DUI Court, that is not all that we are or where all of our proceeds go.
We support everyone in the recovery community in Elmore County, whether in drug court, or in some other formal program, or working through their issues on their own, in their efforts to achieve and maintain sobriety.
We provide financial assistance to people in recovery who are in dire financial difficulty, as well as financial support to Elmore County Drug and DUI Court participants.
We also build ties between those in recovery and the community at large, with activities like the Recovery Walk and Crawdad Feed coming up this Saturday, Sept. 27, or like our annual golf tournament in August and our annual softball tournament in May.
We also participate in many other community activities.
Again, thank you for all your support in the past and helping us reach the community about our mission.
We look forward to many years to come as an asset not just to the court system but also to the entire community.
-- Cassandra Wenner, president, Elmore County Friends for Recovery Council Inc.
