Cross country team places
The Mountain Home Tigers cross country teams opened their season Saturday at the Camel's Back Classic at Camel's Back Park in Boise.
The Tiger boys finished eighth, while the girls came in ninth.
Eagle won the girls competition with 41 points. Mountain View was second with 66, with Meridian close behind with 71. Timberline was a distant fourth with 102, followed by Borah with 112, Middleton at 113, Columbia scored 199, Emmett 208, and Mountain Home 223.
Emily Lampman led the Mountain Home girls, finishing 44th with a time of 23 minutes, 40.65 seconds.
Alexis Georgianna came in 56th in a time of (24:29.77), followed by Elisabeth Stephens at 62nd (25:01.27), Shilo Clark at 85th (26:06.72), Bianca Shrader in 95th (26:59.44), Aundrea Dickinson finishing 127th (30:06.02) and Rhyan Kelley in 141st place (35:23.07).
Mountain View won the boys race with 25 points. Timberline was second with 52, Middleton was third with 103 points, one ahead of Eagle, with Meridian in fifth with 106. Columbia came in sixth with 161, Emmett was seventh with 169, Mountain Home eighth with 214, followed by Victory Charter, North Star Charter, and Ambrose.
Mountain Home's five runners all came in under 22 minutes. Anthony DeSantis led them, finishing 16th in a time of 17:56.91. Kyle Pendleton came in 46th in a time of 20:28.89. John Goodell finished 49th (2042.31), David Catts came in 59th (21;24.02) and Christopher Payne was 63rd (21;54.02.)
Tiger cross country coach Doug Root was pleased with their first effort of the season.
"Anthony (DeSantis) ran very well, and the rest of the boys ran a good race. I was pleased with their times. The girls were led by freshmen Emily Lampman and Alexis Georgianna.
"We had a good pack and just need to lower our times. We know what we need to work on to improve. It was a good day to run. The weather was great for an August race."
The Tigers will be at the Wood River Invitational on Friday.
