Cotton named new Tiger AD
Mark Cotton is not only taking over as assistant principal at Mountain Home High School, he also is taking over as the athletic and activities director.
The 2001 graduate of MHHS has taught five years in the district, the last four teaching English at his alma mater.
Cotton is excited about accepting his new positions.
"I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be an administrator at MHHS.
"I have been fortunate enough to be a student, athlete, coach and teacher in the district over the years and I take a lot pride in being a Mountain Home Tiger.
"As an assistant principal, I am excited to continue working with my colleagues and the students of MHHS. It has been a phenomenal place to work, and (Principal Jeff) Johnson has done an awesome job of building a strong culture here. I can't wait to get to work and contribute to the school in any way that I can."
Cotton is equally excited about heading the athletic and activities programs at the high school, and has several plans he would like to see develop.
"Some of my goals is this position are to build numbers in our programs, improve athletic facilities, and continue to build relationships with all of our community members.
"I believe that competitive programs are built by creating competition within those programs. It is imperative that we get our numbers up.
"Over the last few years we have made some strides in our facility upgrades, and I am going to work hard to keep that going.
"As far as building relationships with community members, I think community support is critical in our success academically and athletically. Last year we had numerous projects in collaboration with the community and that will be a strong emphasis this year as well."
Cotton encourages the community to watch the paper for future promotions at Mountain Home High School.
