Stage 1 Fire Restrictions have now been expanded to include all BLM and state managed lands within Elmore county.
Previously, the only part of the county that had been affected by Stage 1 Restrictions were those portions south of I-84.
The Stage 1 Fire Restrictions will go into effect at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, and will remain in effect until further notice.
Under the Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, the following acts are prohibited on the restricted state and federally managed or protected lands, roads and trails:
* Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire or stove fire except within a designated recreation site, or on their own land, and only within an owner-provided structure.
* Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, building, or designated recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
There also is a county-wide burn ban in place throughout Elmore County.
In addition, Stage 1 fire restrictions are already in place on public lands in Owyhee County and on the Sawtooth National Forest.
The restrictions are being implemented by federal and state agencies managing or providing wildland fire protection to public lands in the area, including the Bureau of Land Management and Idaho Department of Lands.
