Bryce Tracy

Bryce Logan Tracy, 83, of Mountain Home, completed his earthly journey on July 5, 2014, with his loving and devoted wife at his side.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., on Friday, July 11, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Bryce was born in Coos Bay, Ore., on Oct. 6, 1930. Bryce was the only child of Boss and Maude Tracy.

He was always adventurous and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the family ranch. He was a hard-working man and worked as a logger, truck driver and station mechanic while attending high school and then college.

Bryce graduated from Oregon State with a BS majoring in Business Administration and a minor in Forest Engineering.

He married Nancy Jo Engen and completed his family with Linda Poole -- followed by Jim Tracy. Bryce was very proud of his children and their accomplishments.

Nancy passed in 1983 of heart disease.

Bryce's sense of adventure continued throughout his life. He was a man's man. He served his country as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. Besides his stateside stations, he was also in Foreign Service in Japan, Greenland, the Philippines and Vietnam. He retired in 1974.

In 1998, Bryce married his best friend, Gioia "Jo" Rauh Pickering. He acquired an extended family that respected, loved and looked to him as a father and grandfather.

Bryce loved to fly his airplanes and was a flight instructor for many years. He served on the Mountain Home Airport Board and was instrumental in its growth.

Bryce was also a Real Estate broker and builder in Mountain Home since the '70s owning Tracy Real Estate. He had great pride in his quality work and fair business deals.

Bryce enjoyed people, helping them "be well" and worked until his death.

Bryce's hobbies included fishing, hunting with his favorite dog, Gypsy, flying, snow skiing and reading. His most favorite sport fishing spot was San Carlos, Mexico.

Bryce is survived by his wife, Gioia "Jo" Tracy, of Mountain Home, his daughter, Linda, and her husband, Walt Poole, of Boise, his son, Jim, and his wife, Sandy Tracy, of Texas, his stepsons, Charles and his wife, Stacey Pickering, David and his wife, Lyn Pickering, stepdaughter Sonia Arciniega, all of Mountain Home, two grandchildren, ten step grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Nancy Jo Tracy, and an infant daughter.
