Event held to say thanks to firefighters
Dear editor.
The Wild Fire 2 Fish Fry was held June 22 at Featherville Resort. Thanks to all who attended and brought pot luck.
Guests included Forest Service and BLM fire fighters. Seen in the serving line were crews from guard stations at Lester Creek, Shake Creek and Big Smoky Creek, along with Ranger Stephanie Church.
The event, held for the second year to thank firefighters, was hosted by Jex and Jan Hepworth. One hundred and ninety-nine guests were served. Captain Harry of Bearing Sea Foods supplied Alaska cod fillets and early season sweet corn came from Paul's Market.
The fillets were dipped and coated by Blair Johnston and Diane Lindley and deep-fried by John Miller. Harry West made the southern-fried hush puppies and the corn ears were cooked by Randy Bingham. Food was served by Karyn and David Lee and iced tea and lemonade were poured by Laurie and Ed Howell.
Thanks to Wayne Dear Productions and Two Oceon Prints fro the colorful T-shirts and tank tops Watch for next year's event, when we plan to present scholarships to the firefighters who protect our range, forest and wilderness.
