City outlines summer street projects

Friday, June 6, 2014

City street crews expect to begin three major road construction projects in coming weeks following final approval of these projects.

During a meeting May 27, the city council approved a revised list of street projects that concentrates most of this work along the city's east side.

The city has approximately $240,000 in its fiscal budget to maintain public roads each year with $160,000 of that money used to rebuild and repave selected streets. The city street department uses the remaining funds for other preventative road maintenance.

There are a number of streets in Mountain Home needing repairs, said city public works director Wayne Shepherd. However, funds for those types of repairs don't stretch very far.
