Skate competition set for June 14

This year's Open Soar skateboard and BMX competition is planned for June 14 in Richard Aguirre Park.

Skateboard and BMX bike enthusiasts will gather in Mountain Home on June 14 to showcase their talents during an event that encourages friendly competition and the spirit of self expression.

Registration for the fifth annual Open Soar runs from 10 a.m. to noon that day with the first events scheduled to follow at 1 p.m. at Richard Aguirre Park.

Phillip Garcia, who is organizing this year's event, hopes to see more local and regional competitors attend this year. In 2013, the competition drew close to 30 skate and bike enthusiasts.
