Unleashing the carnage...

Jake Ryan from Mountain Home High School's wrestling squad puts the hurt on Tyler Park from the school's basketball team during this year's Carnage on the Court event held Monday evening in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

The yearly contest pitted the wizards of the hardwood against the masters of the mat in hopes of securing bragging rights while promoting the spirit of friendly competition.

The wrestlers sped out to a 78-point lead during their opening half shutout against their basketball counterparts. However, the basketball squad overcame the scoring deficit to slip past the wrestlers to secure a narrow 87-84 victory.

Proceeds from the evening's contest will benefit the high school's senior celebration -- the yearly post-graduation party hosted by the parents of the Class of 2014.
