Tennis team falls in opener
The Mountain Home Tiger tennis teams opened their tennis season last week with matches against Skyview and Columbia.

The Tigers opened their 2014 tennis season at home last Wednesday against Skyview. The girls dropped some close matches, while the Tiger boys managed to come up with a couple wins.
In girls singles, Heidi Rawlins went up against one of the top 4A singles players and lost the first singles match, 0-6, 0-6. Karina Guadarrama lost the second singles match by the same score and Kiana Galloway lost a close third match, 3-6, 5-7.
In girls doubles, Mary Martin and Katelyn McKenzie lost the first doubles match, 2-6, 3-6, and Emily Gillies and Kira Anderson lost a tough second match, 5-7, 3-6.
In boys singles, Austin Griswold won the second singles match 3-6, 7-5, 6-0. Timothy Austin lost the first singles match in three sets 6-7 with a (TB5), 7-5, 1-6, and Nathan Gibbons lost the third match 0-6, 4-6.
In boys doubles, the Mountain Home first doubles team of Brad Foreman and Haydon Draper won 6-1, 7-6 (TB2). Marc Pelletier and Toren Lombardo lost the second match 0-6, 2-6.
In mixed doubles, Nick Vogl and Kaitlyn Stevens dropped the first match 3-6, 3-6, and Dalton Barker and Monica Spinazzolo lost a close 4-6, 3-6 battle at second.
"Although the team lost, I was very pleased with the level of play in the season opener," said Tigers tennis coach Tamzy House. "Many of the players saw their first varsity match and a couple players actually saw their first official tennis match ever. It was a great start for the season."

Columbia swept Mountain Home in conference tennis Friday at Columbia.
In girls singles, Karina Guadarrama dropped the first singles match 3-6, 0-6, Kira Anderson lost the second match 4-6, 0-6, and Mariah Butori lost the third match, 1-6, 0-6.
In girls doubles, Mary Martin and Kaitlyn Stevens lost the first doubles match, 2-6, 1-6, and Emily Gillies and Tia Senger lost the second match, 3-6, 0-6.
In boys singles, Tim Austin dropped the first singles match, 5-7, 1-6, Austin Griswold lost the second match, 1-6, 3-6, and Marc Pelletier Jr. lost the third match, 1-6, 2-6.
In boys doubles, Brad Foreman and Hayden Draper lost the first doubles match, 1-6, 4-6, and Toren Lombardo and Nick Vogl dropped the second match, 0-6, 0-6.
In mixed doubles, Dalton Barker and Monica Spinazzolo lost the first mixed doubles match, 6-7 (TB5), 1-6, and Mathew McLean and Samantha Feekes were blanked in the second match, 0-6, 0-6.
Mountain Home has a busy week of tennis this week. They traveled to Bishop Kelly on Monday, will be at home against Middleton on Thursday, March 20, with a 2 p.m. starting time.
The tennis squad then hosts Jerome on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at the Richard Aguirre Park tennis courts.
