Evangeline Tingle
Evangeline Eugene Tingle, 86, was called home on Nov. 21, 2013.
Angel, as she was known to her friends and family, was born on Sept. 10, 1927, in Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii. She had ten brothers and nine sisters.
From 1943-1945, Angel served our country as a civilian underwater welder, or as the women working in a man's position during war time were known, "Rosie the Riveter." After the war was over and our men returned home, she and her two sisters, Katie and Nora, became part of a professional Hawaiian entertainment group and travelled with the USO performing for our soldiers.
It was during one of those performances where she met the love of her life, Walter Tingle, Jr. They were married in June 1948 and remained so until Walt's death in November 2002.
They made their home in Mountain Home after Walt's retirement from the Air Force in 1965.
During their 54 years of marriage, they enjoyed fishing, water skiing, snowmobiling, gardening, travelling and playing cards.
Angel was known as "Mom" and "Auntie" to a lot of people because the Tingles always opened their home to anyone who didn't have family locally. Almost every weekend you could hear music and laughter coming from their home or campsite.
Evangeline is survived by: her daughter, Trish, and her husband, Jim; her grandson, Chris, and great-grandchildren Oneleigh and Wyatt; her granddaughter, Liz, husband Bobby, and great-granddaughter Dylan; her brother, Richard; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held in California at a later date. Donations may be made in Angel's name to the Dementia Society of America, http://www.dementiasociety.org.
