Larry Fisher
Larry A. Fisher, 69, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 3, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Larry was born April 18, 1946, to Orville B. and Dorothy J. Fisher in Tacoma, Wash. There he graduated from Curtis High School.
He married his sweetheart, Teri Butler, and they had two children, Geri Lynn and Gary. Larry and Terri divorced when the children were young. Larry never remarried yet remained close to where his children lived to be sure they were cared for.
Larry always worked with the public. He eventually purchased the Meridian Café in Puyallup, Wash., where he learned to love the restaurant business. In time he sold the Meridian and purchased The Branding Iron in Tacoma, Wash.
The next venture was The Upper Crust Pizza in Tacoma, Wash.
Larry eventually tired of the crowds and relocated to his sister's hometown of Glenns Ferry, Idaho. He purchased and ran the Glenns Ferry Pizza and Deli for six and a half years, until his illness forced him to sell.
Larry loved his children, his grandchild, his great-grandchildren, and extended family. Larry's great loves were family and work. He was loved by us all and his very presence and personality is what sold his business. He was a big guy with big opinions and a heart that was soft and tender.
We will miss him greatly and his unique sense of humor that never left him even at the end.
He is survived by his son Gary Fisher of Lacey, Wash., his sister, Kathy (John) Boothe, of Glenns Ferry, his brother, John (Jackie) Fisher, of Tacoma, Wash., granddaughter Jessica, of Tumwater, Wash., granddaughter Samantha Sumrall, of Los Angeles, Calif., grandsons Dalton and Cory of Tacoma, Wash., and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Orville Fisher, his father, his mother, Dorothy Fisher, his sister, Susan, and his daughter, Geri Lynn Palmatier.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mountain States Tumor Institute of Boise, ID.
Memorial services will be Friday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Glenns Ferry. Graveside services will follow. A luncheon will be held at noon at the First Baptist Church Dining Hall.
