Soccer girls fall at district
The Mountain Home girls soccer team saw its season end after two games in the district tourney.
Bishop Kelly 10, Mountain Home 0
Mountain Home opened the District III 4A girls soccer tourney at Bishop Kelly, losing to the top-seeded Lady Knights 10-0 on Monday of last week.
"What can you say about a 10-0 loss?" said Mountain Home girls soccer coach Kent Ogaard.
"We talked about this after the game, but it was pretty apparent that the girls went into that game knowing they had no chance of winning, and it showed in their effort when they got off the bus."
Columbia 2, Mountain Home 1
The loss put the Lady Tigers against Columbia in a loser-out game at Columbia.
The Lady Tigers battled hard, but came up short, 2-1.
"It's not exactly the way we wanted our season to end, but the girls played hard, and if we'd have put two good halves together, it would have come out differently."
Madison Roache scored Mountain Home's goal.
Missy Jessup had 17 saves on goal.
"The girls made a lot of improvement over the season," said Coach Ogaard. "With the girls we have coming back, and the great season that the JV girls had, the future of Mountain Home girls soccer looks very bright."
