Lady Tigers lose 3 straight vs. Bishop Kelly
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers played Bishop Kelly tough, but lost to the Lady Knights in three straight sets in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium for Senior Night.
The first set had six lead changes and eight ties, the final tie at 18-18, before Bishop Kelly regained the lead and won 25-23.
The second set saw Mountain Home take an early lead, which they kept until Bishop Kelly went ahead, 12-11. From there the Lady Knights built their lead to five points, and the closest Mountain Home could ever get was within one, the last time at 23-24. Bishop Kelly got the final point for another 25-23 win.
Mountain Home took an early 1-0 lead in the third set but fell behind and a 10-0 run by Bishop Kelly put them in control, 17-6. From there the Lady Knights went on to win the set, 25-14, and take the match in three straight.
Mountain Home volleyball coach Jill Peterson thought they played with Bishop Kelly tough the first two sets.
"The first two sets were beautiful. We passed well, we ran our offense well, we played defense so well. The third set we had a breakdown on passing, which sort of makes everything else break down, so it was unfortunate."
The Lady Tigers finished the second half of their conference schedule 4-4, which tied them for fourth place with Caldwell.
"We're hoping for the fourth seed so we can have a home match on Monday," Peterson said.
Mountain Home earned the fifth seed and opened Monday night at Caldwell. Tuesday night matches were at the higher seeds, and the District III 4A Tournament moves to Bishop Kelly for action Wednesday and Thursday, with the final matches set for Thursday, Oct. 24.
