Lady Tigers tie 1, lose 2 conference games
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers came away with a tie and two losses in a busy week of conference girls soccer last week.
Bishop Kelly 8, Mountain Home 0
Mountain Home battled Bishop Kelly tough at Bishop Kelly Monday, but lost to the Lady Knights 8-0.
"It was devastating for us to lose Missy (Jessup, goalkeeper) with an injury to her ankle," said Mountain Home girls soccer coach Kent Ogaard. "Hopefully she can rehab pretty quickly, but the most important thing is she stays healthy. It does hurt us, and the girls are having to make adjustments on assignments."
Jessup had 15 saves on goal before her ankle injury in the first half. C.J. Bish had six saves on goal after taking over for Jessup.
Mountain Home 3, Columbia 3
Mountain Home got two second half goals -- the last one in the final minute of the game -- to battle back from a 3-1 deficit and tie the Lady Wildcats 3-3 Tuesday at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.
Christa Lewis got a hat trick, scoring all three Mountain Home goals.
C.J. Bish had seven first-half saves and Anna Urquidi had five saves as goal keeper in the second half.
"The girls worked hard, and if we'd had just five more minutes, maybe we could have pulled it out, but I'll gladly take the point," said Coach Ogaard after the game.
Skyview 3, Mountain Home 2
Skyview scored the go-ahead goal late in the second half to claim a 3-2 win over Mountain Home Thursday at Eastside Park.
Mountain Home came back from a scoreless first half to score two goals early in the second half and go up 2-0, but Skyview battled back to tie, and eventually win, 3-2.
"We were up 2-0, and then they came back and scored one on us, and from that point we tried to play for a win, but unfortunately, we had to adjust to this wind, and we're still playing with what we call our back-up keeper, C.J. Bish, and that wind just got her on one, and it fell back in, out of her hands," said Coach Ogaard.
"Then I think we had some creative time-keeping going there. We had several injuries on Skyview's side that extended the time out and gave them one more opportunity to score off a corner, but the girls played outstanding.
"I told tem after the game that I would much rather play a game where we were very competitive and lose, than to just not put the heart and effort in.
"It's a good warm-up for our next game that we have against Emmett, which we should win on our Senior Night, so we're looking forward to that."
Christa Lewis and Jacey Carr scored Mountain Home's goals.
C. J. Bish had 13 saves on goal.
Mountain Home had two balls go off the cross bar and one off the left post, so the team had its chances to score more.
