Tennis teams drop matches

The Mountain Home Tiger tennis team dropped conference matches to Emmett and Caldwell last week.

Emmett Girls 5, MH Girls 2

Emmett Boys 6, MH Boys 1

The Tigers hosted Emmett on Monday at the Richard Aguirre Park tennis courts and lost both the girls and boys matches.

Mountain Home winners in the girls matches were Stephanie Farnsworth and Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger. Farnsworth won the #2 singles match in three sets, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, and Pachner and Wenger won the #1 doubles matc, 6-1, 6-2.

In other girls action, Kali Ireland lost the #1 singles match 1-6, 0-6, and Karina Guadarrama lost the #3 match 3-6, 2-6. Mary Martin and Katelyn McKenzie lost the #2 doubles match 5-7, 2-6.

Mountain Home's lone win in the boys match came in the #2 doubles as Danny Calvert and Marco Grajeda won 6-3, 6-2. Andy Crawford and Haydon Draper dropped the #1 doubles match 4-6, 2-6. In boys singles, Timothy Austin dropped the #1 singles match in three sets, 7-5, 0-6, 1-6. Jacob Hanson lost the #2 match 1-6, 2-6. Jared Shaw lost the #3 match, dropping the first set 1-6 and had to medically retire in the second set down 0-2.

In the mixed doubles, Daniel Courtright and Heidi Rawlins dropped the #1 match 3-6, 2-6, and Joey McCullough and Brytany Minder lost the #2 match 1-6, 0-6.

Caldwell Girls 7, MH Girls 0

Caldwell Boys 7, MH Boys 0

Mountain Home hung with Caldwell in some individual matches, but the end result was a sweep by the Cougar girls and boys tennis teams.

In girls singles, Kali Ireland was blanked 0-6, 0-6 in the #1 singles match. Stephanie Farnsworth lost the #2 match 0-6, 2-6 and Kaitlyn Stevens dropped the #3 match in two close sets, 4-6, 3-6.

In girls doubles, Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger battled in the #1 doubles match before losing 3-6, 3-6. Emily Gillies and Alejandra Hernandez lost the #2 match 1-6, 0-6.

In boys singles, Timothy Austin was blanked in the #1 singles match 0-6, 0-6; Daniel Courtright lost the #2 match 3-6, 0-6, and Dustin Emerson battled his #3 opponent before losing 3-6, 4-6. In boys doubles, Marco Grajeda and Steven Kreyche lost the #1 match 1-6, 4-6 and Andrew Crawford and Joey McCullough went down in the #2 match 3-6, 1-6.

In mixed doubles, Danny Calvert and Joey McCullough lost the #1 match 3-6, 1-6 and Jacob Hanson and Kiana Galloway lost the #2 match 3-6, 2-6.

The Tigers close out their regular season tennis schedule on the road this week. They were at Nampa on Tuesday and go to Kuna on Thursday.
