UPDATE: One lane of eastbound interstate reopened

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

One lane on the eastbound side of I-84 north of Mountain Home reopened at 3:40 p.m. today after an accident involving a commercial truck temporarily blocked the interstate around 2:45 p.m. today.

A preliminary analysis at the scene indicates the truck was traveling westbound on the interstate when the driver went off the right-hand side of the road into the soft gravel, then came back on the interstate, crossing both lanes, before crashing in the median with the vehicle ending up in the eastbound lanes of the highway.

A hazardous materials spill team was also called to the scene.

Traffic was temporarily rerouted through town as emergency crews responded to the crash. Until the interstate was reopened, traffic was rerouted from Exit 90 through the city, which caused some congestion on streets in the downtown area.
