10-year-old critically injured during accident at C.J. Strike Dam

A 10-year-old boy was critically injured during an accident at C.J. Strike Dam Reservoir on Friday.
According to information released by the Owyhee County Sheriff's Department, the boy was driving a Wave Runner personal watercraft on the reservoir when it collided head-on with an outboard boat around 6:30 p.m.
According to Marine Deputy John Zrofsky from the Owyhee County Sheriff's Department, both vessels were in motion prior to the crash. A preliminary investigation indicated that the outboard boat and Wave Runner were moving toward each other prior to the crash and collided slightly off their front bows near the Black Sand Resort side of the reservoir.
The 10-year-old was the only person on the Wave Runner, Zrofsky said. He was flown by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise before he was transferred to a second hospital.
As of Monday morning, the boy was listed in critical condition. The name of the boy and the hospital where he is staying were withheld at the request of his parents.
