Movie in park was great
Dear editor:
I want to thank you for your article in the paper last week about the movies in the park. It has been a 23-year vision of bringing something like this to the city of Mountain Home!
I want to let you know what a huge success it was for the Mountain Home Lions Club, Varsity Boys Soccer Team, Mountain Home Youth Center, and the Mountain Home High School Encore group.
I cannot believe the turnout for our first movies in the park. We had over 300 people there, give or take, participating or watching the movie.
I am truly humbled and honored to live in a place where there is so much support for this city and all its programs.
As with any new adventure, there is always going to be mistakes. I will take the brunt for the two complaints we got from the surrounding neighbors. I will make a valiant effort next time to get the movie started earlier, and keep the sound down if we go past 10 p.m. I am truly sorry for your inconvenience.
Mr. Editor, I did not see you down there that night, but I know you're a busy man. I wish you were there to see all the smiling faces, parents with their children, and all the people that made that night happen. It was truly an awesome sight to see all the kids gleaming with excitement when we started the movie.
I also think there were a lot of parents smiling as well.
To all my venders from the high school, and the youth center, I am so very proud of you all. You all stepped up and performed perfectly for all the citizens of Mountain Home Saturday. I cannot say enough good things about the youth center leadership, other than they are fantastic. We have truly amazing kids on your soccer squad, and in Encore. I hope your Lion's Superintendent takes some notice at the character of those kids and coaches.
I want to thank Todd and Stan from the parks and rec department for your willingness to work with us. Your department does an outstanding job for our community.
We will have a few more movies in the park in the months to come.
Last, but not least, to my fellow Lions. I am truly proud to be a part of the largest service organization in the world, and the largest Lions club in Idaho. Yes you read that right, we have the largest club in Idaho, and that is because of the great people we have here in Mountain Home!
If you are looking to give back to your community, want to have a ton of fun, be a part of a great service organization, please call our Lion president, Lion Rick Viola. The Lions Club meets every Thursday at noon at Carlos' Restaurant.
Once again, thank you to all that attended the first movies in the park, and thank you to all the sponsors for allowing us to do something truly amazing for the citizen of Mountain Home!
