From left, Gage Wilson and Shian Ferrier from Hacker Middle School learn first hand the challenges associated with using a walker to negotiate around a classroom during the school's second annual Extreme Challenge event Friday afternoon.
Hosted by the Center for Community Health from Elmore Medical Center, the fifth graders also got an up-close look at other challenges senior citizens face to complete even basic tasks during the class.
The presentation was one of more than a dozen activities aimed at helping children make smart lifestyle choices on topics like exercise, nutrition, sun safety, teamwork, self-esteem, tobacco use and aging. Photo by Brian S. Orban
