A winter storm packing heavy snow and rain triggered a number of vehicle accidents last Wednesday with Mountain Home dodging any significant flooding.

During a 24-hour period that started at 6 a.m. Jan. 18, Elmore County dispatchers reported nine collisions along with 26 vehicles that slid off roadways across the county.

A majority of those collisions and a dozen slideoffs happened between 6 a.m. to noon as the snow started to fall, according to dispatcher Bess Robinson. The three remaining accidents and another 11 slideoffs were reported between noon and 6 p.m.

  • Holy Cow you mean to tell me they ACTUALLY plow the roads in Mountain Home. Wow that is insane.

I am pleased at the improvement the city has made over the past 2 years in snow removal efforts. If anyone has ideas on ways to improve, I suggest taking them to the City Council. I know when I did, they listened and actually implemented some of the ideas. I applaud the efforts of the workers that are out there in some bad conditions putting up with drivers that should be home.
