The Mountain Home City Council will have one new face next January as Jimmy Schipani won election to his first term in light municipal election voting Tuesday night.
Incumbent Russ Anderson was re-elected to his second term on the council.
The initial unofficial vote tallies showed Schipani garnering 623 votes. Anderson polled 604.
Newcomer challengers Richard Sykes and Tim Bondy received 561 and 103 votes, respectively.
Mayor Tom Rist, who was running unopposed, received 884 votes.
Schipani will replace Geoff Schroeder, who elected not to seek re-election to the council. He will be sworn in next January, when Schroeder's term expires.
In the race for the two city council seats in Glenns Ferry, Traci Stewart (213 votes) and Dewey Crane (171 votes), were elected to the council. David Pender was third in the race with 97 votes.
Under new state law, the election was run by the county. Mountain and Glenns Ferry combined for a total of 1,315 ballots cast.
