Police seek man impersonating a cop
The Mountain Home Police Department is looking for someone who may be impersonating a police officer.
The department received a report from a female stating that on the evening of June 1 she was stopped on American Legion Boulevard by what she believed was a police car driven by a male individual. The vehicle was described as a dark-colored, late-model Dodge Charger with a spotlight and having white stripes on the vehicle. The vehicle also had red and blue lights flashing from the inside.
The male suspect made contact with the driver and asked for registration and insurance. The suspect told the woman her insurance was invalid, handed the documents back and informed her to get it fixed. The suspect returned to his car and left the scene.
On the following day, the female subject checked with her insurance company and found that her insurance was in effect. She then became suspicious and notified local law enforcement. Officers with the Mountain Home Police Department made contact with other local agencies to determine if there had been any traffic stops at that location or time, but could not identify any.
The male suspect is described as being in his 30s about 5'9" 150 lbs. and muscular. He was wearing all black with a shield-style police badge on his jacket. The female stated the badge appeared fake or cheap.
The suspect was not wearing a duty belt and she did not see a firearm.
Anyone with information concerning the case is advised to contact Detective Ty Larsen with the Mountain Home Police Department at 587-2101 ext. 205.
