Pest abatement team seeks to 'fight the bite'
The Elmore County Pest Abatement District, in cooperation with Health and Welfare department and the extension office, have already implemented preventative measures to control the mosquito population.
Surveying all the known hotspots and dipping in water sources to catch the first wave of larvae began the beginning of May. Early larva control will help keep the population low, therefore protecting the citizens from an outbreak of West Nile Virus, a district spokesperson said. "However, you, the citizens of Elmore County must do your part in order to make our community safe this summer," the spokesperson said.
