Grant seeks to pave way to extend city's bike path

Friday, April 1, 2011

A grant recently submitted by city officials seeks to literally pave the way for new bike trails across the Mountain Home community.

The $60,000 funding request submitted to the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation includes paving more than a mile of gravel trails north of the city golf course as well as a separate stretch south of Legacy Park.

Officials with the state parks and recreation department expect to announce its grant recipients by the end of May with these funds becoming available in July.

Maybe a grant to fix some of the roads around town would be more in order. I am not against bike riding or improving walking paths. However, the streets need some major repairs in many areas. At least that is my opinion. And yes I have voiced my opinion many times to city leadership.

  • Perhaps the WECRD would be willing to donate tax dollars to the project...nope, wait...they were asked before to support a project like this and said no. Glad the City of Mountain Home now supports the WECRD---since the City of MH provided a link from the City page for the WECRD. My how times have changed! Why would we ever expect this bass ackward organization to EVER support recreation? The even better question is why the City of MH would support them with a link on their web page. Gave in to Ms. Seller's temper tantrum at your meeting. Pretty sad. Backbone anyone?

  • Stupid city leaders! Oh, don't forget the foot stomp and a single tear rolling slowly down your cheek.
