Welsh 50th anniversary set
Family and friends of Ed and Pat Welsh are being invited to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception in their honor April 9 in the Bruneau Legion Hall from 1-4 p.m.
Ed and Pat met in Boise in 1960. Pat was working at the Royal Restaurant and Ed, just out of the Navy, was working for Welsh Brother Construction. They dated a few months before Ed ask her to marry him. One night after Pat's shift, at 10 p.m,, they went to the justice of the peace and were married on April 3, 1961. They honeymooned in McCall.
They followed Ed's construction career to Hells Canyon in 1966, Portland in 1967, Lake Tahoe in 1968 and then to Boise in 1972. They moved to Bruneau in 1974, where they put down roots as new owners of the Past Time Bar. They sold the Past Time nine years later.
They were remarried in St. Bridget's Church in 1982.
They have five children, Randy Swift and his wife, Shelly, of Kendrick, Carla Render and her husband, John, of Rathdrum, Eddie Welsh and his wife, Kareen, of Nampa, Renee Welsh and Stan Cole, of Bruneau, and Angela O'Connor and her husband, Larry, of Sandpoint.
They also have 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
They said they have had a great life together, raising kids, enjoying friendships and family, traveling on their Harley and now traveling to visit grandchildren and meeting new great-grandchildren.
The couple request no gifts.
