Idaho gas prices up

Friday, February 18, 2011

Idaho gas prices have risen 14 cents since February 2 -- to $3.10 a gallon on average. The Gem State's 10-week respite from fuel prices that had been well above the national average may be coming to an end. The U.S. average price is still higher, at $3.16, but its up just a nickel during the past two weeks.

AAA's analysis shows that gas prices in six Idaho cities today range from $2.95 a gallon in Lewiston to $3.15 a gallon in Nampa. Some stations in western Idaho raised their prices a dime yesterday.

Is Idaho just playing catch-up? Have reports about the influence of the crisis in Egypt been overblown? What's driving prices and where are they headed?
