Snow causes school cancellations, late reporting at base

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

Due to winter conditions caused by last night's snowfall, the Mountain Home School District has canceled school for today, Dec. 1.

The Glenns Ferry School District and the Head Start program in Elmore County, as well as Richard McKenna Charter High School, also have canceled schools.

In addition, Mountain Home Air Force Base personnel are being granted a two-hour delay before reporting for duty.

The snowstorm that began Tuesday evening has dumped 3-6 inches of snow, making driving conditions extremely difficult. School district officials decided it was not safe for buses or private cars to be traveling on the roads in order to deliver students to school.

State and local law enforcement agencies are urging anyone who must be on the roads to drive with extreme caution.
