WECRD board incumbents want to see process through

Two incumbents on the Western Elmore County Recreation District's board of directors remain determined to seeing the district's plans come to fruition despite challenges for their posts.

Board president Marsha Sellers takes on challenger Judy Mayne in the District 1 race during the Nov. 2 elections while Jana Borgholthaus faces Art Nelson for the District 2 seat.

Sellers, who joined the recreation district board in 2009, remains committed to completing the task started by previous board members over the years.

I am actually looking forward to this election. I hope these challengers are up for the job as they have quite their work cut out for them!

Of course they want to see the process through. The process of taxing the common man to allow the wealthy to have their recreation facility, their dream, their monument to themselves. The CLDC's own numbers show that only about 700 or 10% will join this facility with no pool and no gym and pay a monthly fee. It just doesn't seem right to use every last bit of the currently saved money, all the tax dollars every year, raise taxes 3 percent a year and float a bond, for only ten percent of the people that pay these taxes. They talk in the newspaper about the huge $12,000 dollars spent on "Lets play" this year. There's no money for it once they start in with this building. Every last dime goes towards this facility that has a running track enough aerobic machines to put all the local fitness clubs out of business and some rooms for doing stuff.

Maybe I'll see about putting my cat on the ballot. Even when she's busy hacking up a hairball she'd still do a better job that the 'ahem' nice people running it now.

Yep, they talk about how they want to see the process through and all they can talk about is building a building that will require a bond which means higher taxes (speaking with present figures being used). They are not interested in any process but their own. This "process" has been nothing more than another big waste of taxpayer money. Build it. Who in the heck cares if we can afford it or maintain it---as long as we have it and it can serve that 10%-15% of the community that wants it so bad?

Make taxes any higher and nobody will be able to sell anything around here.
