County nuke plant not a 'dead issue'

Elmore County remains in contention to build a nuclear power plant near the city of Hammett despite approval last week to rezone land in Payette County for this type of generating facility.
Payette County's Board of Commissioners approved a change to its comprehensive plan, allowing industrial development on land currently zoned for agricultural use.
After hearing the decision, the company backing the construction of a 1,600 megawatt nuclear power plant filed a rezone application involving 5,000 acres of land in the western county, which it plans to use to build the facility.
