Local skateboard enthusiasts compete in Open Soar event

Friday, July 2, 2010

The first official skateboarding competition in Mountain Home was held Saturday, June 26, at Richard Aguirre Park.

Phillip Garcia, the host and organizer behind "Open Soar," described the event as a success. Months in the planning, the competition gave local skaters an opportunity to show their skills in two main areas -- vert and flat ground or street.

Contestants were given two one-minute time periods to demonstrate their skills and were judged for number of tricks completed, skill level and other areas.

Contestants wait for a chance to show their skills during Open Soar, the first skateboarding competition ever held in Mountain Home.
