Purple Parade opens Relay for Life events

The annual Relay for Life event to fight cancer kicks into high gear this weekend with the Purple Parade this Saturday, June 12, beginning at 10 a.m.
The parade will begin at the fire station, proceed through downtown to American Legion Boulevard, then up to 14th East Street and then south to Eastside Park.
The mayor, Col. Pete Lee and Chief Master Sergeant Ron McCarthy from the airbase, and the Optimist cheerleaders will lead the parade, which will be composed of Relay for Life teams, cancer survivors and sponsors of the fundraising event.
