Tigers finish Mountain Home track meet on winning note
The Mountain Home Tiger track teams closed out their home track meet schedule on a winning note Thursday, winning both the girls and boys competitions.
Mountain Home won the girls competition, racking up 121.33 points, to edge Mountain View, who had 119. Bishop Kelly was a light year away in third place with 19.33 points, and Capital had 3.33 points.
Mountain Home picked up 10 first-place finishes.
Haley Schaefer won both the 800- and 3200-meter runs.
Shelby Posey was also a double-winner, winning the shot put and discus.
Jessica Liercke won the 100-meter dash, was third in the triple jump, and was a member of both the 4x100-meter relay (along with Jasmyne Moore, Lauren Moore and Jessica Tindall) and 4x 200-meter relay teams (along with Shelby Henrick,Lauren Moore and Jessica Tindall) that both finished first.
Dakota Barrie won the 100-meter hurdles, was second in the 300-meter hurdles and long jump, and anchored the 4x400-meter relay team (along with Shelby Henrick, McKenzie Sandberg and Marissa Streeter) that finished third.
Jasmyne Moore won the 300-meter hurdles, was third in the 100-meter hurdles, and was a member of the medley relay team (along with Marissa Streeter, Lauren Moore and Jessica Tindall) that took first place.
Second-place efforts went to Jordan Vivier in the 800-meter run and Shelbie Toenjes in the discus.
Keesha Janis had a third-place finish in the shot put and a fifth in the discus. Regina Rodriguez was third in the discus and fourth in the shot put. McKenzie Dorr finished third in the 3200-meter run.
Ashley Mayberry finished fourth in the 3200 and fifth in the 800-meter run. Ashley Harmon was fourth in the 100-meters and Shelby Henrick, beside her efforts in the relays, was fourth in the 400.
Vanessa Estrella finished fifth in the 400-meters and Kristin Kreutzer was fifth in the shot put.
Mountain Home won the boys competition with 111.5 points. Mountain View was second with 76, Capital was third with 55.83 and Bishop Kelly had 20.66 points.
The Tigers picked up eight first-place finishes, four of them by Tyree Harmon, who won the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles, the long jump and the triple jump.
J.T. Cristobal won the 100-meters, was second in the 200-meters, and a member of the 4x100-meter relay (along with Tyler Knauth, Juan Silva and Robert Jackio) and 4x200-meter relay (along with Tyler Knauth, Raif Armstrong, and Robert Jackio) teams that both finished second.
Tyler Knauth won the 400-meters and was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team (along with Raif Armstrong Luke Filipovich and Ricky Castillo) that finished third.
Other first-place efforts went to DeVonte McClain in the 800-meters and Colby Hall in the pole vault.
Jake Lewis took second in both the shot put and discus. Meanwhile, Jovanne Carrizales was second in the 800-meters and third in the 1600-meter run. Luke Filipovich finished second in the triple jump and was a member of the medley relay team (along with Ricky Castillo, Raif Armstrong and Gavin Cline) that finished second.
Dylan Johnson was second in the 3200-meter run and Anthony Lucas was second in the long jump.
Alexander Ling finished third in both the 110-meter hurdles and the high jump. Chaise Hopkins was third in the long jump.
Fourth-place finishes went to Jacob Perry in both the shot put and discus, Juan Silva in the 100-meters, Ricky Castillo in the 400 and Clint Farmer in the pole vault.
The Tigers close out their regular season track schedule at a meet in Twin Falls this Friday.
"It'll be a good opportunity to see how we stack up against other teams in our division for state," said Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi.
The District III 4A Track and Field Meet will be at Skyview May 13-14.
