Debate team plans events to raise funds for nationals

Friday, May 7, 2010

The Mountain Home Talkin' Tigers will send 11 students, more than any other school in Idaho, to the National Forensic Leagues National Debate Tournament June 13-19 in Kansas City, Mo.

But they're going to need some help getting there and have planned several fundraisers to defray travel costs.

Raif Armstrong, Jessica Bott, Chelsea Wegrzyniak, Chase Bennett, Jared Gales, Melodie Lettkeman, Christina Trouten, Joann King, Alyssa Cannavo, Coby Bobzien and James McGovern will represent Mountain Home at the national tournament.

Good work Debate Team - on both going to Nationals and raising your own funds! Can one of you post the fundraisers here for people who don't get the MHN in print?

  • They're available on my blog "Talkin Tigers Need Your Help!"

We have a carwash/ junk sale tomorrow from 8-2, a bake sale at alberson's (not sure what time)

Our spaghetti feed is this wednesday at the junior high at 5 30 pm.

during both events, our silent auction items will be on display and you can bid on them there. we will also be selling 50/50 raffle tickets at both.

Winners will be announced at the feed.

Anyone with a student at the high school can buy tickets for a chance to pie a teacher. Two teachers and an administrator will be pied sometime in late May (most likely at the finale rally). Tickets are available in room D.

  • So what happens if a person does not have a student at the high school? Can they not buy a ticket? Who in Admin will get the pie in the face? That could really increase ticket sales for your cause.

  • A ticket for the pie in the face? I believe that's limited to students at the hs (they have the most want to pie the hs teachers. haha.)

Spaghetti feed tickets are available through John Petti, or you can pay when you show up, as well as bid on silent auction items and enter the 50/50 raffle.

Thank you to everyone who showed up at our yard sale/car wash/bake sale today!

  • The students buy a ticket and put it in a jar with either mr. johnson or mr. longhursts' names on it. Whoever gets the most tickets bought will be pied, and then we'll draw a student's name to do the deed.
