Lady Tigers dominate, shut out Middleton, Nampa
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers picked up two more conference softball wins last week, blanking Middleton and Nampa.
Mtn. Home 15, Middleton 0
Mountain Home scored six runs in both the third and fifth innings Tuesday to pull away for a 15-0 five-inning win over the Lady Vikings at Middleton.
The Lady Tigers pounded out 17 hits in the win, led by Madison Siefferman, Arlene Futch and Jennica Quintal with three each. Siefferman and Quintal both had three RBIs.
Nickayla Skinner, Megan Kelly and Rachel Warila each had two hits for Mountain Home. Skinner hit a home run and drove in four runs. Warila had a double and two RBIs. Blas Lord and Charde Huntington also had hits.
Mountain Home Lady Tiger coach Chris Asbury was pleased with the on-the-road win.
"We had an opportunity in the first inning to get on them and hit a lot of 'at 'em' balls today -- they were just in the right spots in the first few innings -- but we tacked a few on in the third there and if you give Nick a run or two to work with, she can come in and shut the door."
Nickayla Skinner struck out 12 and gave up just two hits on the day to improve to 13-0 on the season.
Mtn. Home 28, Nampa 0
Mountain Home celebrated Senior Night with a 28-0 win over Nampa Friday at Eastside Park in Mountain Home.
Mountain Home scored seven runs in the first inning, eight in the second and six in the third to build up a 21-0 lead. By rights, the game could have ended at that point, but the Nampa coach wanted to keep playing. The Lady Tigers added seven more runs in the fourth with no outs before the game was finally called.
Nickayla Skinner, Arlene Futch and Jennica Quintal led a 20-hit attack with four hits apiece. Skinner had 11 RBIs and three home runs. Futch had a double, drove in six runs and scored four, and Quintal knocked in four runs and scored four times. Megan Kelly, Charde Huntington and Rachel Warila each had two hits. Kelly had a double and drove in two runs. Huntington and Warila both had one RBI. Warila also had a double. Madison Siefferman and Lindsay Sessions also had hits and Siefferman had an RBI. Courtney Christiansen, Blas Lord and Amanda Osborn both scored two runs and Krissy Elliott one.
Nickayla Skinner and Blas Lord combined on a no-hitter, with Skinner pitching the first three innings and striking out seven. Lord pitched the fourth and had one strikeout.
Coach Asbury was pleased with the Senior Night victory.
"These eight seniors, they mean the world to me," the coach said. "This program has come a long way in four years and they deserve every bit of the credit. They've put us on the map, now it's up to us to keep it going next year."
The eight senior players honored were Charde Huntington, Blas Lord, Lindsay Sessions, Amanda Osborn, Nickayla Skinner, Arlene Futch, Megan Kelly and Jennica Quintal. Also honored was the team's manager, Brittnie Hodge, also a senior.
The Lady Tigers improved to 10-0 in conference play and 17-2 overall. They hosted Kuna Tuesday in a big conference showdown, and travel to Columbia Thursday. They close out their regular season on the road next week, playing at Skyview May 4 and Bishop Kelly on May 6.
