Tiger tennis teams struggle in regular season action
The Mountain Home High School Tigers boys and girls tennis teams both fell to Skyview this week, while the girls earned a regular season win over Burley.

The Mountain Home Tiger girls and boys tennis teams both lost to Skyview at Skyview last Tuesday.
In girls singles, Carolyn Bailey lost at #1, 3-6, 2-6, Natalie Lasher dropped a 2-6, 1-6 match at #2, and in the #3 match, Danielle Lord lost 0-6, 1-6.
In girls doubles matches, both Mountain Home teams lost as Anna Martin and Leah Riley dropped the #1 match 0-6, 1-6 and Miriam Forrest and Shelby DeLeon fell during the #2 match 1-6, 0-6.
In boys singles, Bryan Wheeler lost the #1 singles match to 2008 State 4A champion Kenny Dodd 0-6, 1-6.
"Although the score looks like it was an easy win, it wasn't," said Tigers tennis coach Tamzy House. "Bryan battled through each point, taking many games to deuce, ultimately winning one game -- a great effort on his part."
Casey won the #3 boys singles by forfeit and Ross Pataro dropped a hard-fought battle in the #2 singles match, 1-6, 6-4, 1-6.
In boys doubles, Thomas Martin and Drew Hopkins lost the #1 match, 0-6, 0-6 and Tomas Garza and Justin Rogow lost the #2 match in a tough battle, 4-6, 4-6.
In mixed doubles, Ben Cumber and Brittany Ryan won the #1 doubles match, 6-4, 6-2, and Drew Borgholthaus and Allie Draper lost a two-hour battle in the #2 match, 4-6, 6-4, 1-6.

The Mountain Home tennis teams hosted Burley Saturday at the base courts, the girls winning 5-2 and the boys losing 5-2.
In girls singles, Carolyn Bailey lost a tough 1-6, 4-6 match at #1, while Natalie Lasher won the #2 match 6-0, 6-0, and Danielle Lord won the #3 match by forfeit.
In girls doubles, Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger won the #1 match 6-0, 6-2, and Shelby DeLeon and Sophia Stoltmann won the #2 match 6-4, 6-2.
In boys singles, all went three sets, with Bryan Wheeler losing the #1 match 7-5, 4-6, 1-6, Ross Pataro won at #2, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, and John Teng lost at #3, 6-3, 1-6, 5-7.
In boys doubles action, Stephen Bush and Ben Dearing lost the #1 match 0-6, 0-6, and Andrew Turner and Calebb Traylor lost the #2 match 0-6, 0-6.
In mixed doubles, Brittany Ryan and Justin Rogow won the #1 match 6-1, 6-4, and Rachel Kowalewski and Chris Hall lost the #2 match 0-6, 0-6.
"Due to absences because of Spring Break, health and club sports, we pulled Ben (Dearing), Calebb (Traylor) and Andrew (Turner) up from the JV to fill out the varsity roster," said Coach House.
"Neither one of them had played a best two-out-of-three set match before. They hung in there and gave it their all. I am very proud of them."
