Five injured in pickup-Greyhound collision
Three passengers aboard a Greyhound bus were injured just after midnight Wednesday when a pickup truck with two men in it, one from Mountain Home, rolled on the interstate and crashed into the bus at milepost 71 near Simco Road.
According to Idaho State Police, Junior A. Martinez, 19, of Norwalk, Calif., was travelling eastbound in a 2000 Ford Ranger when he lost control of the vehicle. Martinez's vehicle rolled in the middle of the roadway and was struck by a Greyhound bus, driven by Miguelito Sakay, 53, of Reno, Nev.
Traffic was completely blocked on the eastbound side of the interstate for approximately four hours while the crash was being cleared.
Three passengers on the bus were transported to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. Two were treated and released. The third remains at St. Al's in serious condition.
Martinez and his passenger, Jake A. Perez, 21, of Mountain Home, were also transported to St. Al's. Perez was treated and released. Martinez is currently listed in serious condition.
Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police. Idaho State Police were assisted by Ada County deputies and EMS.
