City receives no bids in effort to sell Youth Center building
Plans to sell the building containing the Mountain Home Youth Center hit a snag after no one stepped forward to place bids during a scheduled auction Nov. 23.
City leaders kept the auction open 30 minutes past the 5 p.m. start time in hopes of attracting late bidders.
In a meeting Oct. 13, the Mountain Home City Council unanimously approved plans to auction the building with a minimum starting bid of $125,000. The city, which owns the building, hoped to sell it for possible use as a retail business.
However, Mayor Tom Rist previously emphasized the youth center will remain at its current location until permanent arrangements are finalized to build a new facility.
