Vets urged to join groups
I know there are a lot of you out there. Problem is, I don't see you at the meetings of our service organizations.
In this town we have DAV, VFW, American Legion and Marine Corps League well represented. All of these organizations are here for you.
The American Legion meets on the first Tuesday, the DAV meets on the first Thursday the VFW meets on the second Wednesday at War Memorial Hall (515 E. 2nd South St.), the Marine Corps League meets at Carlos's Restaurant the first Thursday of each month. Come to a meeting even if you are unsure if you want to join (we want you to join of course), but, even if you don't want to join, we can still work with you. Besides I'm sure you will enjoy our company. I know we will enjoy yours.
These organizations all have great community projects, and of course veteran advocacy operations. The DAV is working on Christmas for the veterans in the VA Medical Center Home at this very time (do you want to volunteer?). The other organizations have other things going on. We also have a service officer to help you with any benefit questions or problems.
I know there are many questions you have about the various organizations. I probably don't have all the answers but I will be able to direct you to the folks with the answers.
Please give me a call, if I am not there leave your name and phone number. I will get back to you.
