Representatives from Idaho Power updated local residents on the status of a project to run hundreds of miles of new power lines across southern Idaho, including Elmore County.
Nearly 40 people from across the county attended Tuesday's briefing at Mountain Home Junior High School regarding the Gateway West transmission line project.
A joint venture between both Idaho Power and Rocky Mountain Power, Gateway West includes building a series of 500 kilovolt towers from the company's Windstar substation near Glenrock, Wyo., to the Hemingway substation near Murphy, Idaho. It would span nearly 1,150 miles when finished.
