NCO drowns in private pool July 4

A 41-year-old NCO from Mountain Home AFB, Richard Caron, died when he apparently drowned in a private swimming pool in Mountain Home Saturday evening.
Caron had been one of several people who had gathered at a home located at 695 E. 13th North St. to celebrate the Fourth of July. "People were going in and out all the time, but it wasn't really a big party," said Sgt. Rick Viola of the Mountain Home Police Department. "A lot of them were Air Force folks."
Police Chief John Walter said that someone had noticed that they hadn't seen Caron for a while. They began a search and found him at the bottom of the pool. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police received the call at 6:48 p.m., and arrived three minutes later.
No foul play is suspected. Pending the results of an autopsy held Monday and toxicology tests to determine if there were any contributing factors to the death, the investigation remains open.
A memorial service will be held at Hanger 1331 at Mountain Home Air Force Base, on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 9 a.m. Inurnment will be held in Brooksville, Fla., at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Caron was a Master Sergeant-selectee at Mountain Home AFB.
He was experienced around water, enjoying scuba diving among the activities in which he participated.
He is survived by his wife of nearly ten years, Christina Caron of Mountain Home
